AD3 Project 1

This was a group project with 6 people, where we had to design two exhibitions, one with a linear layout and another with a concentric layout. The theme is surrounding 'Malay Kampung' where we had to romantisize it, using poetic spaces to attract tourists to visit Malay Kampungs in Malaysia.

Conceptualisation

As we had 6 members with very different ideas and approaches to this project, a lot of time was spent in this stage and many different ideas were scrapt before settling for the final design

Mock Up Model

The mock up model did not look visually appealing at all, but it did help us decide what elements and spaces we wanted to incorporate into the final design. The elements of Malay Kampung we wanted to incorporate was weaving, carvings, stilts and nature

Linear Model

This design used a 'deconstruction' method to make the design resemble a traditional Malay Kampung look while not entirely simulating a traditional Malay Kampung. The main features include the dome with 'wings' that represents the joys of Malay Kampung, which is the final narrative we had for the design.

Concentric Model

This design used the same concept so it looks similar to the first model. The concentric layout of this design adds more emphasis on the centre dome which is the main feature of the design.

Final Presentation Board

The presentation board was arranged as group trough Canva. My main contributions for this project are to the main design, model making and board layout. The drawings were produced through Rhino3D while the rendering was done physically. Diagrams were produced on the Ipad through Procreate.

Reflection

For the first project, the workload was quite tough as we also had a member of the group who was MIA. Our design looked quite outstanding however, because of the many elements used to differentiate the spaces, it made the design look very messy and not part of the same design excluding the roof. A good design would be able to blend the different elements together without making it look scattered. As for the presentation board, physical rendering does not look good and should have been done digitally.
